Armenians of Marseille

Armenian immigrants, victims of the 20th century's first genocide, are now perfectly integrated into French society. Marseille has always played a central role in the experience of French Armenians. From 1922, following the genocide, refugees started arriving in the Mediterranean city. They would eventually number some 10,000. On their passports, the Turkisk authorities had stamped 'No Right of Return.'
